Protection Dogs
A protection dog, watch dog or guard dog is a dog used to guard against, and watch for, unwanted or unexpected people or animals.
Protection dogs bark loudly to alert their owners of an intruder's presence and scare away the intruder and when fully trained can attack on command or when a situation occurs. The protection dog's function ends here.
A protection dog is capable of attacking or restraining the intruder and a suitable dog can be simply trained to be aggressive towards unrecognized humans and then tethered or enclosed unsupervised in an area the owner wishes to protect when he is not around.
Other protection dogs intended for police or more supervised work are trained to bite, restrain and release an intruder only on the specific commands of its handler as in Schutzhund or K9 Pro Sports training.
Some breeds do make better protection dogs than others where as most breeds can be trained to become good guard dogs. Training a protection dogs is a much more serious processs.
Training protection dogs generally breaks down into three key areas which are guard dog training, family protection dog training, executive protection dog training,personal protection dog training and also police and military service dog training.
